We've all read the articles about the current state of unemployment across the country and around the globe. Many of our own friends and loved ones have been on the job hunt for months, even years. Even with the best efforts of the government, nonprofit sector, and other entities, we are in the midst of a crisis.
In order to tackle this issue, it will take all of us to step up to the plate and help others get connected to jobs which provide sustainable wages & personal satisfaction. You don't have to be a workforce development professional to help someone get a job. There are small steps that each of us can take toward making a MAJOR Impact.
MAJOR Impact (Making Access to Jobs Our Responsibility) is aimed at offering practical ways for everyone to become actively engaged in the search efforts of job seekers in their community, and around the globe.
Start your MAJOR Impact today! There are several ways you can get involved:
- Resume Rescue -- Serve as a volunteer Resume Reviewer to someone in your career field
- Post a Position -- Dedicate your Facebook Status one day a week to highlight job postings
- Volunteer at your local library -- Assist job seekers with job searches, completing applications, or creating their resume
- Donate Clothing -- Drop off gently worn interview suits, coats, shoes, and other attire to participating organizations
- Support an Entrepreneur -- Invest in the visionaries who are best suited to create future jobs: start-ups and small business owners
- Conduct A Mock Interview -- Help job seekers prep for their big day by asking anticipatory questions in advance
- Plan a Workshop -- Offer a jobs related workshop or seminar in your area, and post to the MAJOR Impact Resource Center.
